Josepha Lauth Thomsen is NUKIGA’s new Creative Director! She has her first day 1 June 2023.
Josepha says: “I am beyond honored that I am able to work for Nukiga, which is an independent NGO that works to strengthen, develop, and promote cultural life and the entrepreneurial environment in the Danish Commonwealth (Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands) with a special focus on Greenland.
With my background of wanting to promote Greenland, it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to do what I’m truly passionate about. Finally all my experience throughout the years (tourist guide in all of Greenland, travel agent selling trips to Greenland, Greenlandic storytelling, Greenlandic mask dance, educating within tourism in Greenland and my master in Experience communication) can be put to good use. All of the things just mentioned has always been about promoting Greenland and our rich and welcoming culture and history.
It’s been a personal fight for me to be proud of my heritage (due to prejudice in Denmark) and by telling the story of what an amazing country Greenland truly is, I have found so much pride. I am grateful that I am able to have a connection to Greenland, even after I moved to Denmark (to get closer to family). I cannot wait for the adventure that awaits!”
